Scavenger Hunt in 100 Mile House

We are hosting a Scavenger Hunt in 100 Mile House, BC to honour the 215 children found at the Kamloops Indian Residential School, and the countless more children being found across the country. We hope this scavenger hunt will allow all of us to come together in spirit as we play this game, as children would enjoy. Please bring your family and enjoy this time together. This weekend we are looking at extreme heat, please pack sunscreen and keep hydrated as you find the 10 clues.

On Saturday & Sunday, June 26 & 27, businesses and locations throughout 100 Mile House are participating in this scavenger hunt. It can be walked, but would require the entire day. You can complete this game at any time throughout the day, it is completely self paced; however, we will only be handing out prizes, water bottles, juice boxes & single-wrapped snacks from 3:00PM-5:00PM on Saturday & Sunday. Please bring your 10 orange clues and we will give you a prize - while prizes last.

Here are the rules:

- Look for the teddy bears and orange pieces of paper;

- Must collect 10 out of 10 orange pieces of paper in order to receive a prize;

- Please be mindful of the environment around you, social distance if required;

- If you get lost, ask businesses if they are participating & they will be able to direct you where they have placed the teddy bear in their store; and

- Most importantly, remember these children as you play this game & enjoy being outside with your family.

We have partnered with Cariboo Chilcotin Partners for Literacy to also provide a young children's version of this scavenger hunt to play alongside. We hope these two games will allow for open communication and learning.

Here are the rules for the children's game:

- Directions: use this alphabet scavenger

hunt to hold a conversation with your child.

- preschool age: help identify the letters on signs (example: STOP sign = "S"); or

name the (plants, animals, etc.) that you

see as you walk.

- primary age or older: add to the

challenge by adding descriptors using

the same letter (example = Big Blue

Butterfly)

- Other - make up a story using each

letter. (Example: A= Ant "The ANT went

across the BRIDGE and at the

CROSSWALK he met a DOG...etc.)

- Use your imagination; every conversation

is important!

- 8+ yrs. – add a describing word using the same letter

(Examples: Black Beetle, Red Rock..)

We can't wait to see you on Sat & Sun!
